Here at Darren Smith Homes we devote considerable time and resources to acquiring the finest sites available. We believe that each site is totally individual and aim to design every home with this in mind to produce a truly bespoke and unique final product.

This starts with the initial drawing and the plans for the layout of the new development. We work with the best specialist sub contractors, consultant engineers, architects and planners to ensure that we deliver the optimum designs to suit today’s life styles.

We also aim to harmonise with the locality and setting of each development and to ensure we go above and beyond our commitment to local residents and communities.

The Structure

The old adage that “you cannot build a house half way up” may sound obvious but it’s key to everything we do.

From the foundations to the roof structure, if the construction methods aren’t first class the rest of the build becomes a series of compromises – paving the way for problems and unhappy residents.

We believe in getting it right from the very foundations of all properties, so we can attain the supreme finished article more easily.

We take great pride in aesthetics and durability of the external masonry, joinery and roofing and our exteriors guarantee the kerb-side “Wow Factor”.

We also showcase sustainability, energy efficiency and all those other unseen elements of construction to ensure that your new home’s performance matches its great appearance.

To demonstrate our company’s pride in their work we have invented a new brickwork aid called K.I.P (patent pending) which will help deliver an even better, more aesthetically pleasing final product for you to enjoy.

We guarantee that we won’t undertake any internal works until the roof is on – and water tight. This helps to greatly reduce shrinkage and cracking that often occur in new properties after completion.

INTERNAL WORKS TO COMPLETION.

We know that the internal features of your new home are just as important as the exterior

We consider the most practical and up-to-date options for plumbing/heating and electrical installations and we only use the finest of carpenters/joiners and plasterers.

Once they’ve done the all-important initial work, we then bring in our teams of experienced painters and decorators to give every home that all important finish.

Our interiors teams work closely with the home owner to ensure that the new residents can stamp their own personality on their new property. For example, residents can choose:

  • Individual colour schemes in kitchens, bathrooms and living areas
  • Choice of floor coverings
  • Ensure that everything is tailored to their own individual taste and personality at all times.
  • Upon completion, a team of professional cleaners then moves in to ensure that every new home is in pristine condition when the new owners move in.

As a welcome gesture, each house buyer is given a welcome package to ensure that it feels like “home” from day one!

Darren Smith Homes were quick to step in to offer support to Yorkshire Ambulance Service employee, Sarah Watkinson, who founded Winter Warmers, a West Yorkshire-based charity that helps the homeless and other vulnerable families, in November 2017.

The charity covers an area spanning Huddersfield, Dewsbury and as far as Leeds.

Walk-to-school project celebrated

An innovative walk-to-school project celebrated a milestone this week with buns and banners outside Mirfield Library.

Crowlees School parent Dianne Watkinson devised and launched the Hoppa five years ago and is delighted with the success of her walking bus / park-and-stride hybrid idea.

Dianne explained: “I set up the scheme to help ease congestion around my sons’ school, teach children that walking to school can be fun and encourage parents to work together to
